Steve Cury Construction has built a reputation for creating unique custom homes and renovation projects
From Jupiter and West Palm Beach to Palm Beach Island and the towns in between, Steve Cury Construction builds one-of-a-kind homes from the ground up, alongside a busy roster of high-end renovations and additions. Originally focused on crafting boutique residences and spec homes in prestigious waterfront communities, the business has evolved since its foundation in 2003, and it now delivers full-service solutions such as luxury renovations and home additions. Rather than using templates or floorplans, each project begins as a blank canvas between clients, architects, and designers, with Founder and President Steve Cury overseeing the process.

As the Palm Beach market evolves, Steve Cury stands out from the competition based on his principle to stay hands-on from first sketch to final walkthrough. “We’re very much involved in both the design and the build,” Steve elaborates. “Working with the architect early in the process allows the team to value engineer a project before costs run away. Everybody has a budget in today’s world, and the goal is to produce a home that is built smartly rather than overbuilt, with money directed to where it earns its keep, such as kitchens and bathrooms.”
Steve describes his approach to projects as a ‘triangle of design, building, and architecture’ with the builder responsible for aligning all three aspects. “I’m not trying to be an architect or designer, but over the last 20 or so years, I’ve learned that the builder is responsible for bringing everything together,” he explains. “Building or renovating a home can be a stressful experience, but communication is key to navigating the process. We genuinely listen to our customers, understanding what they want, how they live, and what their needs are before we start. We run weekly meetings with clients to ensure nobody is caught off-guard, and we keep detailed schedules to ensure changes can be implemented in good time. I treat each home like it’s my own and we genuinely care about our clients! We’re very invested in our projects and we strive to ensure everything is delivered exactly how our clients intended.”
Quality without compromise
The company’s standards also extend to its subcontractor network, which is continually vetted and made up of long-term relationships. “We always work with the best of the best, and while we leverage repeated work, we’re also constantly seeking new talent,” Steve states. “The market has grown significantly and people are extremely busy, meaning it can be challenging to find good subcontractors. There’s always someone doing something better, faster, or less expensively, so we’re always looking for the optimal blend of value, price, and quality.”

With a strong reputation for quality materials, on-time delivery, and competitive pricing, it’s no surprise Steve Cury Construction is constantly in demand. A recent renovation and addition project in Jupiter, inside the Jonathan’s Landing community, offers an example of how the business builds homes that truly reflect the client’s vision. “This home delivered exactly what our clients wanted in terms of final design, which included a lot of outdoor living,” Steve elaborates. “Set within a gated community, the project centered on blurring the line between indoors and outdoors. As the clients planned to use the home seasonally, they wanted every door to open onto the patio. We also added around 1200 square feet of covered outdoor space, with the rear of the house opening completely to enable people to move freely between inside and out.”
Right place, right time
However, a pair of projects on Greymon Drive in West Palm Beach focuses on a different aesthetic, demonstrating the company’s wide range of style capabilities. “We built a new home and completed a renovation in what I’d call ‘Florida traditional style’,” Steve says. “Some people might call it British colonial, but it’s more like Florida’s take on colonial with a little bit of everything like traditional features, colonial character, and modern finishes. These homes were built for the for-sale market, rather than a single owner, which changes the brief entirely. Everybody has different needs and wants, whether it’s a developer building it for sale or an end-user who wants everything to suit their lifestyle, and we work for both types of clients.”
When it comes to the real estate market, the wider landscape has been kind to South Florida builders, due to an influx of people moving from the Northeast. “A lot of people are moving into Florida, and I don’t see that trend slowing down any time soon,” Steve shares. “Parts of Florida, especially West Palm Beach, have seen tremendous growth over the last five-to-ten years, and a lot of our early success comes down to being in the right place at the right time. However, inflation is the current counterweight; prices have gone up substantially over the past six years, and some buyers are pausing or reconsidering building a new home. For us, if demand holds and clients are willing to invest in what they want, our work continues.”
Looking ahead, Steve is keen to grow both sides of the business: custom homes and developer work. “We have several projects being planned for 2027, and they typically take six months to a year to reach shovel-ready, so getting involved early in the design stage is our priority,” Steve explains. “Furthermore, I’d like to move beyond building into development in our own right, so we’d be the owner as well as the builder. It’s a long process to get there and something we don’t want to rush.”
As a second-generation builder, Steve reflects on the biggest lesson he’s learned; and surprisingly, it’s less about construction and more about attention. “Everything is so busy and the market moves so fast,” he says. “It’s important to slow down, listen, and focus on what’s important.” This discipline is apparent in Steve Cury Construction’s approach, with no two homes alike and each project grounded in quality and care.
