Showcasing true construction mastery, Corr Contemporary Homes enters 2026 with passion and ambition
As the luxury residential construction market continues to evolve, few businesses have managed to uphold excellence, craftsmanship, and consistency quite like Corr Contemporary Homes (CCH). Centered around dynamism, creativity, and honesty, the company, which was founded in 2007, boasts an enviable reputation for delivering some of the California’s most complex and beautifully executed homes, and has continued to maintain its momentum for almost two decades.

As CCH embarks upon 2026, it opens the door to another busy and exciting year, jam-packed with innovative projects that are set to further augment its stellar reputation in the West Los Angeles market. To learn more about what lies ahead for CCH, Modern Home Builders sits down for an exclusive interview with James Corr, Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer, who shares insight into the company’s background and the secrets behind its continued success.
“I grew up in the UK and Ireland construction world, working on everything from large scale civil projects to pipelines, hotels, and high rises,” James begins. “I went to school and got an engineering degree, and after that, decided to go backpacking; that’s how I ended up in Laguna Beach, California, working for a small contractor building oceanfront homes. I soon found that luxury homebuilding in Southern California combines all of the most interesting parts of residential homebuilding with the complexities of high-end commercial projects, and I fell in love with it. Within six months, I was running a couple of job sites, including all of the portfolio work for a major luxury custom home developer. That company then underwent some issues, so, at the age of 25, I decided to strike out on my own.
“CCH’s first build was a large house up in the Bird Streets of LA, which is now better known as the Avicii house. That project garnered a lot of press, and we’ve grown significantly since then. We’ve built a strong, relationship-based business with a good reputation for building large, complex forms and have built some of the finest homes in the world, with projects all over West LA, the Hollywood hills, and Malibu.”
Diverse skillsets
With a star-studded client base and impressive portfolio to boot, CCH continues to be defined by passion as it edges closer to its 20th year in business. The company’s scope of expertise spans across a wide range of different architectural styles and capabilities, ensuring that each project is delivered with the highest exacting standards and attention to detail.
“We’re known for our contemporary homes, but we also do colonial homes, modern farmhouses, Mediterranean styles, and historical renovations. A high level fit and finish is what we’re looking for, regardless of style,” James elaborates. “I enjoy architecture and I enjoy a challenge, so when we’re presented with something new, I’ll dive into my reference books to gain a deep understanding of the details and what the project requires. One of our key strengths as a business is that we’ve got a wide range of staff with diverse skillsets. Our people enjoy bringing their broad range of experience together to balance out those different skills and overcome challenges.”
This commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and continuous improvement is what truly differentiates CCH in a competitive market. From minor remodels to complete new builds, the company lives and breathes its foundational approach, ‘Trusted. Thorough. Built to last,’ which shines through in, not just every project, but in the relationships, processes, and communities it holds dear. In our interview, James is keen to highlight two particularly spectacular projects: 1251 Tower Grove and 642 Perugia.
“With our Tower Grove project, a client bought a home in Beverly Hills and initially wanted to do a light refresh. That ended up turning into a massive remodel – essentially, a new build of the existing home with various add-ons, such as a pool, and upgrades all across the board. Time was a challenge with this project as we had to go through all of the external shareholders and approvals, but we were able to complete it in just 18 months. We worked with McLean Design on that project and the final product was beautiful, with a very high-quality finish,” he explains.

“Another great project of ours was 642 Perugia, which was a 16,000 square foot new build situated on the golf course in Bel Air – it’s an A+ location with fantastic views. We worked in collaboration with London-based Quinn Architects on this project, and the result was a hillside home with stunning views and a beautiful staircase that brings light down into the basement.”
Continual refinement
On the topic of community, both of the highlighted projects can be seen on CCH’s Instagram profile – @corrcontemporaryhomes – which, as of January 2025, currently boasts almost 11,000 followers. From stunning project photography to behind-the-scenes footage, day-in-the-life videos to project deep dives, the page showcases the very best of CCH and has garnered a significant following amongst industry professionals and enthusiasts alike.
“Our Instagram page has got a very active community, with a lot of our followers being other tradespeople. It’s great because we get a lot of young and up-and-coming professionals who will look at our processes to figure out how they can do it better, and I really enjoy that,” James says. “One thing that we do is that we record videos on the job. I’ll do a site walk, stick some microphones on the team, and record us talking about the work, getting into the details of a project, or even just having a joke. We have some editors who are managing the content and the posting, but the video is raw – and it’s real.”
By upholding the highest standards of integrity, care, and delivery into the future, CCH looks forward to the bright year ahead, as it remains well-positioned to continue to develop and grow its team, its capabilities, its partnerships, portfolio, social media, and market status.
“At the start of 2025, we faced a huge tragedy with the fires in the Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena, which resulted in massive upheaval and destruction within those communities. From that, we’ve got a lot of projects in the pipeline which are going to keep us busy for a long time. Alongside that, we aim to continue to grow steadily year upon year. We’re going to continue to grow and develop our team whilst further refining and improving our processes,” James reveals, optimistic for the year ahead.
“Our goal is to be the best builder in LA,” he says, concluding our conversation. “We’re not just specialized custom-builders: we’re true master builders who are going to continue to refine our craft.”
