Setting new standards in homebuilding, CopeGrand Homes blends design, craftsmanship, and collaboration on every project
Over the past year, CopeGrand Homes has been focused on setting itself apart in an increasingly competitive homebuilding market. Moving away from expansion for expansion’s sake, the company has continued to grow stronger, building arguably one of the best professional project management groups in all of Charleston.
Having invested time and resources into advancing both on-site execution and early-stage planning, the professional team behind CopeGrand Homes is sought after for its experience, dedication, transparency, and communication. As Founder and Owner, Adam Copenhaver, asserts: “Our construction and pre-construction efforts are two pillars that have become the backbone of our known reputation. As such, we’ve intentionally doubled down on elevating both. The result is greater clarity, stronger execution, and an even higher level of consistency and predictable results across every project we take on.”

Its collaboration with local architect, Collin Cope, is one example of how enhanced CopeGrand Homes’ design process is in its newest version. The result of this partnership is the company’s latest signature project; a bespoke modern home located in The Isle of Palms.
As Adam details: “As part of our scope of work, we pair clients with curated architect options who we are certain can bring their vision to life. We invest a lot of time early on getting to know our clients to understand their personalities, lifestyle, values, and most importantly their goals. After we’ve invested critical and insightful time together, we then feel confident to guide them towards an architectural partner who will bring certain success.
Creativity and collaboration
“This ‘matchmaking’ process is key to the success of any project. Collin is one of the most creative home designers working on the East Coast, and for The Isle of Palms project we saw almost immediate alignment.
“Because the match was so intentional, it created a strong and trusting relationship between client, architect, and builder. That chemistry is clear from the initial drawings to the home itself. Today both the home and the relationship still have the same amazing energy; you can sense the sophisticated style and welcoming casual comfort in every detail.
“When the right team is assembled from the start, creativity flows more naturally, and collaboration is stronger – the end result is always something truly special.”
Strong partnerships with the region’s leading architects and designers ensure every CopeGrand Homes project is shaped with intention and passion. As architect Collin Cope has noted, the creative process begins long before drawings take shape, rooted instead in careful listening and thoughtful questioning about how clients want to live and what they want their home to support.
That early clarity, he explains, establishes a shared vision that guides every decision that follows, allowing the architecture to evolve naturally rather than feel imposed. With CopeGrand Homes closely involved from the outset, the team was able to help translate that vision into a realistic, fiscally responsible build – resulting in a seamless process and a project that stands as a model of true collaboration.
Preserving history

From masterful homebuilding to historic renovation, CopeGrand Homes keeps culture and creativity at the core of each project it undertakes. Having recently transformed a notable Folly Beach Oceanfront teardown, the ‘Coca-Cola House,’ Adam talks through the challenges of working on such a landmark property: “From the very beginning, our approach was rooted in preservation over waste-and-replace. The goal was never to make the house feel new – it was to honor what made it special while ensuring it could stand for generations to come.
“We committed to staying within the original footprint, preserving the property’s character, and salvaging as much of the original material as possible, including beadboard walls, ceilings, trim details, and doors. Every board that could be saved was restored and reused, allowing the home’s history to remain evident in every room.
“At the same time, we carefully integrated modern structural systems and materials within the walls and under the floors. The home was stabilized from the ground up, with the foundation replaced, structural members rebuilt piece by piece, and hurricane-rated systems added to prepare it for the next half-century of coastal weather.
“Materials were selected for longevity – standing-seam metal roofing, cementitious siding, copper flashing, and impact-rated windows and doors – so the home could meet modern performance standards without compromising its historic character.
“Design decisions were guided by respect for the original layout and spirit of the home. Key elements, like the kitchen location, were intentionally kept in place to preserve its historic flow, even when more contemporary layouts would have been easier.
“The result is a home that shows its age in the best way, bright and white, but never pretending to be new, where you can still feel the stories of those who walked through its doors nearly a century ago,” he enthuses.
New media channel
As with The Isle of Palms and the Coca-Cola home refurbishment, each CopeGrand Homes project is the result of ongoing collaboration between professional and experienced teams of talented experts. Bringing their perspective to a wider audience, Adam and twin brother Ben will be launching their construction-focused YouTube channel, This Grand House, in early 2026. As he reveals: “We’re planning on releasing our first few videos on the channel very soon. The intent behind This Grand House is simple but meaningful: to build better builders and to better educate clients so projects are healthier, more successful, and more enjoyable for everyone involved.
“Through sit-down conversations with industry professionals, experts, and leaders who are doing their best work, we explore residential construction with a strong focus on Charleston and coastal building.
“Topics range from quality standards and innovation to leadership, craftsmanship, and mental health. Our real focus is adding value: creating better processes, stronger teams, and sharing how we develop and maintain outstanding relationships with our clients and trade partners.
“Alongside long-form conversations, we’ll share short-form content that highlights best practices, building techniques, and behind-the-scenes insights. At its core, This Grand House is about education, collaboration, and elevating both the industry and the client experience.”
Alongside this exciting new media channel, the company has further plans for 2026. As Adam reflects: “Our priority is once again redefining what it means to truly serve our clients and deliver the Grand Experience. We’re excited to roll out even more efficient, productive, and valuable processes and procedures that allow us to bring greater clarity and value to every project.
“Above all, we want to celebrate our team. This group continues to raise the bar, better their best, and deliver outstanding value for our clients. Their dedication, talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence make them unstoppable. They continue to push the boundaries of what we thought was possible, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next,” he concludes.
