Prioritizing client experience and collaboration, Anderson Homes builds luxury custom homes with a long-term vision

As one of the leading luxury custom homebuilders in Southeastern Wisconsin, Anderson Homes (Anderson) prides itself on providing an enjoyable, exciting, and transparent experience for its clients from beginning to end. Working in Milwaukee County, Waukesha County, Racine County, Ozaukee County, Kenosha County, Walworth County, and Washington County, Anderson, a Pewaukee, Wisconsin based company; has built a strong reputation across the region for delivering truly custom homes that serve clients for generations to come.

“Anderson Homes has been in business for almost ten years, and over that time we’ve grown from what I’d call a semi-custom homebuilder into a fully custom homebuilder focused on the quality and uniqueness of each project for our clients,” opens Kevin Emmer, General Manager. “We’re not limited to a specific type or style of home, instead offering different styles of homes from modern and new American to farmhouse and mountain style homes and beyond. There’s currently increased demand for farmhouse style homes and new American architecture, and we’re also seeing an uptick in Eastern coastal design in certain areas.  a modern house, specifically identified as an Anderson Home.

“Rather than focusing on one style, we collaborate with our clients to aesthetically achieve their vision, while offering our advice on architectural ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ from either a design or construction perspective. Each home is truly designed around each client, who work closely with our in-house designer to create a home that not only exceeds their design preferences but also includes functional spaces throughout. Many floor plans are embracing an open floor plan concept, but some clients prefer more traditional room layouts. We’re currently building a home with a formal dining room and sitting room, for instance, as they want to create cozy and intimate spaces that stay loyal to more traditional layouts.”

Close relationships

To build these homes, Anderson must first cultivate a strong and collaborative relationship with its clients built on mutual trust. “We take our time to identify and understand what our clients are looking for in a home, not only for the next few years but also as they age and family dynamics change in a long-term vision,” Kevin confirms. “We take time to understand how our clients will use their home and how this usage will change in the years to come. Some clients want larger bedrooms to accommodate their children as they get older, most utilize their basement as an entertainment space differently, and some even leave space for a future elevator so they can install one down the road if they may face mobility issues later in life. We also like to get an idea of how they live and function in their home on a daily basis, considering their uses and preferences, in their kitchens, master suites, entertainment spaces, or personal office. These are the types of requirements that are carefully thought out as we work through the design processes to ensure a harmonious floor plan in construction that stands the test of time as their lives grow and change.

“Our relationships with clients don’t end when we hand over the keys but rather continue into lifelong friendships. We often check on how clients are enjoying their homes and catch up with them from time to time. It’s a relationship built on genuine care for each other. It all starts with mutual trust, and seeing our clients’ happiness and excitement when we finish their home is the reward. That is what drives our passion in building quality custom luxury homes.

“Quality is always our top priority, and it’s not just about high-quality materials and careful practices, but also about creating a long-lasting, energy-efficient home that will serve its owners well into the future,” Kevin adds. “To maintain our standards, we collaborate with contractors and vendors who we’ve worked with for several years, as we have a mutual understanding and can rely on them to help bring our vision together and uphold our focus on quality.”

Outstanding project

Turning to recently completed projects, Kevin continues: “The Kettle Moraine Retreat, situated on a private rural lot, offers a mix of new American, farmhouse, and mountain style architecture, that accentuates extensive views of a lake. We designed the entire home to maximize its unique scenic surroundings, creating panoramic views from several areas inside the house, including the master suite, living room, kitchen, and lower level. We also installed large windows below grade to bring natural light into the basement from the front of the house. This client loves entertaining guests, so we considered this throughout the design of the kitchen, lower level, while considering the use of the outdoor space for entertainment, which features oversized sliding doors, a screened patio, and a large pool deck. They are also very passionate about sports cars, and we turned the garage into a highly finished space for them to store and showcase their cars with lifts.

“The kitchen of the Kettle Moraine Retreat has more of a rustic feel with white cabinets and tiled backsplashes immersed in a blend of natural wood tones that seamlessly flow into the family room and dining room. The master suite has an intimate wing, complete with a hallway, walk-in closet, bathroom, and of course large windows facing the lake.”

On a more personal note, Kevin shares details of his background and how it led to his career in homebuilding. “I grew up on a farm and I’ve always had a passion for building things and creative problem solving,” he reflects. “I started out building custom cabinetry when I was in high school, which progressed into small pieces of furniture. I loved the artistic, hands-on approach to work, so moving into the homebuilding sector came almost naturally to me. I’m genuinely passionate about what I do, and we love bringing client’s dream homes to life and the excitement and joy that it brings them.”

To close our conversation, Kevin turns his attention to Anderson’s future. “We’ll continue to do what we do as long as our there are clients that share and appreciate our core values, building truly custom homes that meet each clients’ needs for generations to come,” Kevin concludes. “We continuously analyze our processes to ensure we extend the longevity of our homes as much as possible. Further into the future, I’d like to see Anderson open some more subdivisions to enable us to provide more artistic vision for clients when it comes to home design. I love that my job allows me to take on different challenges every day. We don’t take lightly our responsibility to each client to carefully balance the need to stay within their budget without sacrificing long-term quality and long lasting aesthetic appeal.”
