Modern architecture, ranch-style homes and high-profile ski resorts: PureHaven Homes marks 20 years of excellence

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, PureHaven Homes (PureHaven) has firmly established itself as one of Utah’s premier luxury home builders for a reason. Since Modern Home Builders sat down with owner Shane Harr in 2025, the company has continued to achieve a significant amount: delivering four units at Powder Mountain 30 days ahead of schedule, breaking ground in the Marcella development at Deer Valley, and preparing for future work tied to the highly anticipated Tiger Woods-designed golf course.

Shane launched PureHaven in 2006 and has since followed his dream of building high-end custom homes. Partnering with clients throughout the entire building process, from lot acquisition to architectural design and construction, the firm takes a fully integrated, client-first approach, which is particularly valuable for out-of-state homeowners. Shane is guided by a clear philosophy – “if you’re going to build something, be proud to put your name on it.” Primarily working out of Heber, PureHaven recently finished its Modern A-Frame project in the city. Shane explains what drew him to the Heber City market, and how projects in this location have helped shape the company’s building method.

“The opportunity to work with out-of-state clients who were looking to put down roots in Utah was a key driver for us,” he opens. “Our whole building process is centered around the communication required to build a high-end home for clients who are not in the area and cannot physically see their home being built for periods of time. This has forced us to be very proficient in all that we do – especially communication!”

Unique and challenging

With the Utah luxury mountain market growing considerably in recent years, building requirements have shifted. “Demand has certainly skyrocketed,” Shane continues. “From 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic changed the way many people live and work remotely. With all that Park City has to offer, the new SLC Airport, and the Deer Valley Expansion, we should be busy for the foreseeable future. We are very lucky to live and work in this area.

“Most ‘ski-in, ski-out’ homes come with extreme civil engineering requirements. From where the home is placed on the lot, how the home interacts with the ski run, new wildfire interface requirements, and the extreme grade changes we see with these homes, the process of building this product is unique and challenging. Costs for this type of product have increased over the years but so has the value – we are now seeing them trade above $2000 per square foot. Views from these homes are breathtaking and the lifestyle is first class. Of course, these types of projects are challenging but also some of the most rewarding.”

Team efforts

Such experience and ambition motivates the company to take on an array of projects with varying styles and specifications – notably, the Charleston Project. Shane elaborates: “The Charleston Project is a modern Texas ranch style home, therefore very different to what we typically build. For starters, it’s situated on a flat lot; the chance to build a house on flat ground is amazing! The area is spectacular and the outdoor elements of this home will certainly allow the owner to take advantage of the views and lifestyle.” He attributes the success of Charleston and other high-end projects to long-term subcontractor, JAB. “Their quality is amazing. Arturo, the owner, cares deeply about his craft and wants everything to be correct.”

Spectacular project

Another sizable development for PureHaven involves building for businessman and Netflix founder, Reed Hastings, as part of his Powder Mountain project. “We’re incredibly excited about the vision Reed has for Powder Mountain, and we appreciate being a part of it,” exclaims Shane. “I have known Brandi Hammon, the President of Powder Mountain ski resort for some time and I have always admired her real estate expertise, so I’ve been eager to work on a project together for years – finally we were able to make it hap-pen! Powder Mountain has the most amazing terrain and expansive views, and we’re excited about the product coming to the mountain. It’s going to be exceptional. We love working with the Powder team – Erik De Bruijn, Mark Clawson, Kaylie Faucette and the rest of the team have been amazing. When you have a great team, good things naturally happen.”

PureHaven currently has 15 projects underway, which Shane states is made possible by the same strong team ethos. “There is no way we could create any of this without great people,” he states. “From our office staff to our construction managers and project managers, our people are what make PureHaven. I am grateful to come to work every day with such a wonderful group. In addition, most of our trade partners have been with us for years. A motto we have at PureHaven is ‘Here We Build: Remarkable Relationships, Extraordinary Experiences, and Lasting Memories.’ Not only does this apply to our clients, but everybody we encounter – including our trade partners. We understand that we are a team, all trying to accomplish the same goal. We do our best to communicate clearly, treat them fairly and help them reach their goals. Without them, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are and, over the past 20 years, we have cooperated effectively and forged loyal partnerships.”

As a leader in Utah’s luxury home building industry, PureHaven has carved out a reputation as innovative problem solvers with a dedicated team, a seamless building process, and a fun, fulfilling client experience – measuring success in customer satisfaction. With 2026 well underway, Shane reveals that this collaborative and communicative approach is set to continue for the remainder of the year and beyond.

“We want to be better in 2026 than we were in 2025,” Shane concludes. “We want happy clients who refer us to their friends and family. This is how we continue to survive and thrive in such a competitive market and we are extremely excited for the future.”
