MHB puts ten questions to Anthony Perera, Founder of Peak Roofing Partners 

1 – First off, it would be great to get to know you a bit better. Could you tell me about your career history, and its evolution to your current role?  

My career in the home services industry began with a small air conditioning company in Florida. Over six years, I grew Air Pros USA into an eight-state operation with more than 1000 employees and $200 million in annual revenue. This experience taught me the value of strategic growth in fragmented markets. During the pandemic, I launched Inspected.com, addressing the need for virtual remote inspection services. My latest venture, Exuma Capital, targets high-growth lower and middle-market companies. Through Exuma Capital’s first portfolio company, Peak Roofing Partners, we recently acquired Action Roofing Services, the largest South Florida roofing company. As founder of Peak Roofing Partners, I now focus on empowering roofing businesses nationwide, providing not just capital, but strategic guidance and operational expertise to help them reach their full potential. 

2 – What inspired you to found Peak Roofing Partners? Can you sum up its operations? 

Peak Roofing Partners emerged from recognizing opportunities in the fragmented roofing sector. We operate as a strategic investment and support platform for US roofing companies. We partner with established businesses, providing capital, expertise, and growth strategies. Our goal is to elevate these companies, enhancing efficiency and market reach while maintaining their local identity and customer relationships. This approach allows us to create a network of high-performing roofing companies that benefit from shared resources and best practices. 

3 – What drew you to form a partnership with Raheem Mostert, the star running back for the Miami Dolphins? 

The goal of this partnership is to elevate our brand visibility and community engagement. Raheem’s exceptional performance and dedication on the field mirrors our commitment to providing excellent roofing services. We plan to work with Raheem on various community initiatives in South Florida, particularly focusing on providing quality roofing solutions to those in need. Raheem’s strong connection to his community and his philanthropic efforts make him an ideal partner to strengthen our ties to our community.  

4 – Are there other ways that Peak Roofing Partners works with the Miami Dolphins and what do those relationships mean to you and the business?  

Peak Roofing Partners maintains a strong relationship with the Miami Dolphins organization beyond our partnership with Raheem Mostert. Action Roofing, a member of the Peak Roofing Partners family of companies, serves as an official roofing partner of the Miami Dolphins. We actively participate in the team’s community outreach programs, focusing on initiatives that align with our expertise in roofing and home improvement. This collaboration allows us to give back to the South Florida community while showcasing our commitment to quality and service. Our involvement with the Dolphins enhances our brand visibility and credibility in the local market and provides unique opportunities for employee engagement and team building. 5 – Focusing on roofing – have recent challenging weather conditions changed your approach and work with partners and if so, how?  

Recent extreme weather events have reinforced our commitment to resilient roofing solutions. We’ve intensified our focus on using advanced materials and techniques that can withstand severe conditions. Our partnerships now emphasize education and preparedness. We work closely with our partners to ensure they’re equipped with the latest knowledge and tools to handle post-storm repairs efficiently. We’ve also strengthened our supply chain to respond quickly to sudden demand spikes after major weather events. This proactive approach helps our partners serve their communities better during critical times. Additionally, we’ve increased our investment in technology that aids in rapid damage assessment and streamlined claims processes, benefiting both our partners and their customers. 

6 – Is sustainability in general something high on the agenda at Peak Roofing Partners? 

At Peak Roofing Partners, we recognize the growing importance of sustainability in the construction industry. While we don’t have specific sustainability initiatives to highlight, we stay informed about eco-friendly roofing trends and technologies. Our focus is on providing high-quality, durable roofing solutions that meet our clients’ needs and comply with industry standards. At Peak Roofing, we use Inspected.com, a remote inspection and permit documentation technology company, to drive customer efficiencies. Virtual inspection services help many of our larger home builders improve their cycle times during construction, saving time and money and allowing them to move on to the next project quicker. We’re open to exploring sustainable options as the market demands and as they align with our commitment to excellence and long-term value for our customers.  

7 – Looking ahead but more generally, with your expertise, what do you think is next for the roofing sector? 

I think the roofing sector is going through a significant transformation period. In the coming years, I expect to see increased adoption of technology in all aspects of roofing operations, from virtual service inspections, such as through Inspected.com, to AI-powered damage assessments to improve efficiency and accuracy in estimating and repairs. The industry will likely shift towards more durable, weather-resistant materials to meet the challenges of extreme weather events. I also anticipate a growing demand for energy-efficient roofing solutions as homeowners become more conscious of their environmental impact and energy costs. The sector will also continue to consolidate, with larger companies acquiring smaller ones to achieve economies of scale. This consolidation should drive standardization of best practices and potentially improve overall service quality across the industry.

9 – What has been your biggest lesson learned as an entrepreneur in the roofing investment space, and how has it shaped your leadership style? 

My biggest lesson in the roofing investment space is the importance of preserving local expertise while scaling operations. This insight shapes my leadership style significantly. I focus on empowering our partner companies to maintain their unique strengths and community connections while providing them with resources to grow. This approach fosters a culture of mutual respect and collaboration. I’ve learned to balance strategic oversight with operational autonomy, allowing our partners to thrive in their local markets while benefiting from our broader network and resources.  

10 – Are there any other areas that you consider important for the sector and that you’d like to include? 

The roofing sector faces several key challenges and opportunities. Workforce development is a critical issue as the industry experiences a growing skills gap with the retirement of experienced roofers. Attracting and training the next generation of roofing professionals is essential for the sector’s future. Customer education is another vital area. Many homeowners don’t fully grasp the critical role their roof plays in protecting their entire home. Raising awareness about proper roof maintenance and the long-term value of quality roofing will benefit both customers and the industry.
