Kitchen and bathroom trends for 2024 and beyond

We checked in with Candice Quinn, Founder/Principal Designer, London Pierce Design, to learn her thoughts on the latest and greatest trends for your kitchens and bathrooms.

Staying on top of kitchen and bathroom trends is an integral part of our job and our work at London Pierce Design. This year, when it comes to kitchens, the most frequent requests from my clients include the implementation of spacious islands that provide ample room for entertaining and accommodating their guests, as well as high-end appliances equipped with the latest features.

One of the most unique requests I’m receiving is for integrated pet feeding stations within the kitchen. We’re having a lot of fun with this concept, adding luxe stations for pets and even adding a pot filler for convenient water access. It’s unique to their space, but also incredibly important as we think about the actual function and accessibility of day-to-day life and needs for things like pets, children, and beyond.

Not only are these nuanced details becoming more important and requested, but clients are also seeking efficient and functional solutions like organization concepts integrated into their cabinetry. We’ve developed some creative solutions to streamline the kitchen workflow and ensure it works properly for busy families and everyday life.

Furthermore, we are incorporating new technology into our kitchen designs as this has become a big trend in kitchen design throughout the past few years. As our clients embrace the advancements in technology, we have seen a demand for appliances with integrated technology and smart features that enhance functionality and convenience.

Creative solutions

When it comes to design elements, our clients are more inclined to take risks and go bold in their kitchens. This includes being enthusiastic about fun island designs and pushing the boundaries of creativity. Additionally, there’s a rising interest in appliances that are integrated and concealed within the cabinetry, offering a clean and cohesive appearance.

Lately we are seeing more demand for neutrals with added textures vs color. I feel that this offers a nice timeless look. From a product specific side, I am seeing more demand for steam ovens and built-in coffee makers, and we are also seeing more demand for outdoor kitchens as clients embrace indoor/outdoor living.

As we look ahead to the new year, I’d love to see a move away from traditional, bulky cabinetry and oversized appliances in favor of sleek, streamlined designs. Embracing integrated solutions and minimalist aesthetics would allow for cleaner, more sophisticated kitchens that suit modern lifestyles.

On the bathroom front, our clients are requesting larger bathrooms that incorporate wellness features that enhance relaxation, like steam showers and saunas. There’s also been a trend towards creating spa-like environments with a focus on relaxation and overall well-being. Many of our clients enjoy creating separate spaces including his and her sinks and we almost always design separate water closets if the space will accommodate.

On the efficiency and technology side, our clients are asking for hidden outlets, USB ports, and creative storage solutions in their bathrooms and we have been specifying digital shower systems and steam showers with integrated sound and aromatherapy scents.

We are even seeing requests for outdoor retreats with a cold plunge and are seeing less color and more neutrals with texture.

For 2025 and beyond I’d love to see bathrooms evolve into true retreats – spaces designed for relaxation and personal escape. By incorporating elements like soothing lighting, luxurious materials, and spa-like features, we can transform bathrooms into serene havens for unwinding and rejuvenation.
