“My wife and I founded Treo in January 2014 shortly after relocating to Miami from Venezuela. Both of us come from a family of builders, with my dad being a developer and my father-in-law an architect and developer. Over the past decade, we have established Treo as a beacon of luxury homebuilding in South Florida. Specializing in crafting custom single-family homes, our projects demand the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Initially, we focused on building 3000-to-6000 square feet homes, mainly for local and international clients.  However, as Miami’s real estate landscape evolved, so did we. Today, we work on larger homes, ranging from 6000 to 20,000 square feet, catering to a diverse clientele, including many domestic buyers migrating from other states,” Ricardo reflects.

“In 2023, Treo experienced a pivotal moment as Eli Abadi, our long-serving Operations Manager, became a partner in the company. This move coincided with several high-profile projects, including the celebrated property on Broadview Drive in Bay Harbor Islands. “This particular project is one I hold close to my heart. The house, developed in collaboration with the client, redefined waterfront living when it sold for $21.95 million in April 2024, marking a new record for the area. It’s an 8000 square foot two-story masterpiece, highlighted by a striking water feature at the entrance and another cascading into the pool from the gazebo. The property’s design takes full advantage of its location, offering stunning views of Indian Creek, one of Miami’s most prestigious islands. Inside, the home is adorned with luxurious features, including a temperature-controlled wine wall and a spectacular bar.  The stone on the façade penetrates the house and seamlessly harmonizes with the floating staircase that takes you to the second floor,” he shares

Smart homes

The success of this project is emblematic of Treo’s commitment to collaboration, particularly with its design partner, SDH Studio, a relationship that has been integral to Treo’s growth. “SDH Studio is much more than just a partner; it’s part of our extended family.  My wife Stephanie is the Founder and Principal of SDH Studio, and I believe that her talent, and that of her team, truly speaks for itself. Our collaborative efforts with the firm are frequent, allowing us to deeplytwo-story property in Bay Harbor Island understand their design intent and maintain refined processes for working closely together. Our teams are so intertwined that we share an office building, and that proximity enables us to deliver an extraordinary level of synergy, resulting in homes that are as functionally sound as they are aesthetically stunning. We celebrate milestones together, support each other, and, above all, share a common goal: to create homes that bring joy and satisfaction to our clients,” Ricardo elaborates.

Treo strives to innovate and implement cutting-edge technologies in every property it builds, resulting in a perfect combination of elegance and functionality. “We incorporate smart home technology solutions into every project we undertake to enhance appeal and functionality for our clients. To this end, we team up with our subcontractors to implement a wide range of technologies, including smart lighting, motorized blinds and shades, air quality monitoring, and smart irrigation systems. In addition, we work alongside our design team to explore other areas that can also improve quality of life. For example, at our 255 Ocean Boulevard property, which is currently under construction, we are installing Apure’s ultra-slim profile recessed lights. These fixtures are not only elegant, but also functional as they utilize advanced lens technology to deliver soft illumination with minimal glare,” continues Ricardo.

“Across all our projects overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, we are installing Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. By doing so, we aim to maximize ceiling heights, enable individual temperature control in each room, and optimize compressor use. To better regulate humidity and improve the efficiency of filtered fresh air supply, we are installing Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS). Whenever possible, we install solar panels that complement the energy demand of our homes and provide any additional supply to the electric grid,” he concludes.

As Treo Construction looks to the future, its sights are firmly set on elevating the standard for luxury living with its latest endeavor: state-of-the-art oceanfront homes. “We are excited to be working on a new frontier of development, with homes that are not just situated by the ocean but are designed to embrace and celebrate their surroundings. These residences will feature expansive glass walls, immersive wellness areas that feature a cold plunge, sauna and steam room, state-of-the-art gyms, lap pools – all meticulously crafted to allow residents to live in seamless harmony with the sea. The Atlantic Ocean becomes a living extension of these homes, offering an unparalleled blend of tranquility and beauty,” Ricardo concludes.
