How RCB Homes creates positive client relationships through high-quality construction

Founded in 1994, RCB Homes (RCB) set out to provide high quality construction with responsive and friendly customer service. Adrian Woods, President of the company, explains the approach: “With over 30 years of experience we have a firm understanding of the craftsmanship, quality materials, and service that every client expects and deserves. It is our goal to not only build a home, but a relationship, so we stand behind the work long after the project is complete.

“We are owned and operated by a small team that is involved in all day-to-day activities and decisions. We understand building a custom home can be a daunting task so we work tirelessly to understand a client’s vision and formulate a clear and concise plan. It is our sincere intent to make the process as stress-free as possible.”

Adrian goes on to outline the company’s specialisms: “We have successfully completed hundreds of custom homes, townhomes, remodels, renovations, and commercial projects. Our primary focus has always been large custom homes. We provide architecture, interior design, and construction management services to take a project from concept to reality.”

Positive customer experiences

A standout example in the current portfolio is Oakland Park. Adrian sheds some light on the development: “Oakland Park’s layout was inspired by small towns of the early twentieth century. Houses are close to the street to foster social interaction while creating picturesque streetscapes. The natural environment is also integrated in a way that entices you to get out and enjoy life. Everything is designed to connect you with the experiences and activities you desire. Preservation of old Florida’s character and craftsmanship creates a stunning sanctuary, and a close-knit community feel.”

With upcoming projects in picturesque lakeside settings, it’s not surprising to learn of Adrian’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. “I am certified in the green building standard Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED). We have also built one of the largest LEED certified homes in Central Florida winning the Most Outstanding Home presented by the US Green Building Council. In addition to building LEED certified homes, RCB has built dozens of Energy Star certified homes. This means each home has met strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Our vast experience in energy efficient and green construction allows clients to affordably pursue these advanced building methods.”

As with any business that requires a highly skilled workforce, retention is an important factor in RCB’s success. Adrian expands: “Our core team has been together for well over a decade. We like to periodically do team lunches, happy hours, and fishing trips. We enjoy spending time together in a relaxing environment where we can celebrate all our hard work. I think more than anything employees want to feel appreciated so I make that a focus.”

The importance of building strong working relationships also extends to the subcontractors with which RCB chooses to work. Adrian continues: “We have worked with most of our subcontractors and vendors for years and years. We have confidence in them to do the job and they have confidence in us to treat them fairly. Each of them is an important component to our success over the years.”

With RCB celebrating its 30th anniversary, Adrian reflects on the other factors that have contributed to the company’s success and longevity: “I think we’ve always been willing to innovate and incorporate new and better building methods or products as they became available. Even more importantly we have always focused on the client experience. There are lots of contractors that can put bricks and sticks together but that doesn’t necessarily translate into a positive customer experience. Frequent communication, accountability for issues or problems, and always doing what we say we are going to do helps clients feel comfortable to put their trust in us during this process.”

Strategic growth plan

With 2024 and RCB’s third decade in business coming to a close, Adrian explains the company’s priorities for the end of the year: “We are pushing a number of projects forward that are anticipated to close in the spring. We usually try to organize at the end of the year, evaluate what new tools or equipment we might need, and get ourselves prepared for another productive year.”

Looking further afield, Adrian outlines the company’s broader ambitions: “We hope to continue to grow strategically. We are always looking for neighborhoods and developments that will be a good fit for us. Our operation is scalable so we have the capability to expand as opportunities present themselves.”

With a design studio and an on-staff design coordinator, RCB has the full range of capabilities required to take a home from concept to completion. Constantly investigating potential neighborhoods and projects to expand its portfolio, RCB is ready to capitalize on opportunities and continue its path of growth.
