How Prestige Custom Builders has gained its strong reputation for luxury homes in New Jersey

Mario Zolofra, President and owner of Prestige Custom Builders (Prestige) cut his teeth working with his father and six uncles across the different trades. Immigrating from Italy to the U.S. with his family, his stone mason father taught him that everything starts with a strong foundation.

Mario gives more detail: “After learning the different trades, working with my father’s company, the progression was natural and lead to a professional career start as a Project Manager for a residential multi-family developer. After several years, I transitioned to commercial construction working for NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation and the School Construction Authority as a Resident Engineer building across New York’s five Boros. The wide range of projects consisted of new

builds, additions, emergency room renovations and infrastructure upgrades all with a focus on life safety. The years of experience I gained were invaluable and solidified my confidence in both commercial and residential settings. With a long commute and my young family needing more attention, I returned to New Jersey’s residential sector as the VP of Construction for Signature Communities building luxury notable home developments across Monmouth and Ocean Counties such as Beau Ridge at Holmdel and Waterford Estates in Manalapan. After many years of considerable success and a passion for building, I founded Prestige Custom Builders in 2007.”

Mario goes on to outline the company’s specialisms: “We primarily focus on custom homes and major renovations throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties. These areas are very affluent and competitive so standing out from the crowd is vital. We do so by fitting the architect, engineer, designer and trades to achieve our client’s vision. We are a small company,” Mario continues, “and we provide the same services as our much larger competitors. We build a very high-end product with a customer-centered, detailed approach no matter the scale or cost of a project.”

Covering both new-builds and renovations, the company is flexible and able to meet our customer needs as Mario explains: “We offer many different services, including but not limited to general contracting, project management, design build and turn-key construction.”

Maintaining strong relationships with seasoned professionals and skilled tradesmen is a key strength to the business. Mario elaborates: “It’s one of our best qualities, we have people that we’ve worked with for nearly 20 years and this team approach provides a smooth experience for the client.”

Harmonious environment

A recently completed project exemplifies the depth of skill and knowledge across the teams. Mario highlights the key features: “The home is over 10,000 square feet, four stories and set on 12 acres. The property includes an elevator, a golf simulator, sports court, an outdoor living area, as well as two wine rooms.”

Prestige recognizes that staying ahead of the curve in terms of design and construction also means keeping up to date with the latest sustainable materials and techniques. Mario explains the company’s approach: “You must keep up with current technologies and codes. For example, we use best management practices to ensure that we maintain the inherent qualities of each individual lot and preserve as many trees as possible. We also maintain as much of the topography as we can by working within the building envelope and utilize the latest technology for storm water management.”

Mario reiterates the importance of the team behind each project: “The feedback we get from our client’s time and time again is that our people are professional and courteous. Our tradesmen know what we want, what’s expected and share the same values. This creates a harmonious environment on-site and improves the client experience.”

Going forward Mario sees Prestige Custom Builders maintaining steady growth and continuing to deliver high-end quality custom projects.

Mario concludes. “It’s all about making yourself available to the client. I give them my cell phone number and personally visit every site. We make sure to keep the client informed so they have a clear understanding of what will happen the next day, the next week, the next month and thereafter until the project has been successfully completed. Our satisfaction comes from seeing how happy the client is with the results and getting recommended.”
