How Bellamy Remodeling’s passion and family values have ensured its enduring legacy Whether working on a modern kitchen, a luxurious bathroom, or a complete home makeover, Bellamy Remodeling’s expert team excels in bringing clients’ ideas to life. As a third-generation family-owned business, the company combines its core values of excellence, integrity, and safety with its strong community reputation to deliver outstanding residential projects. “We specialize in high-end renovations including kitchens, baths, additions, finished basements, and essentially any other aspect of residential remodeling. Thanks to our 18 employees, most of our work is done in-house, which many of our clients truly appreciate. When we do work with trade partners, they are like family to us as we have cultivated these relationships over a long time,” opens Greg Bellamy, Owner. Sharon Bellamy, who co-founded Bellamy Remodeling with her late husband Bruce Bellamy, joins us to discuss the company’s inception. “Prior to launching our business, I studied accounting and business in college. Bruce and I, high school sweethearts, got married in 1966 as he was becoming a journeyman in the sheet metal trade. For the 12 years he worked there, Bruce was in a union and would sometimes go on strike, which made raising a young family difficult. During downtime, he worked with his grandfather, who was a builder. In 1975, we decided to take a gamble and establish our own remodeling business. Bruce started on his own, though he later hired his first employee, while I managed the books alongside a part-time job. By 1987, we decided that our business could finally afford to onboard me full-time, leading me to undertake various tasks from truck deliveries to job site visits. That same year, our son Greg joined us, with his wife Katie following suit in the early 1990s, cementing our family legacy. “After decades of hands-on work, when he was in his 40s, Bruce’s body began showing the toll of physical labor. By then, we had a full team in place, allowing him to transition to managing projects and handling estimates, until our retirement in 2008. We became snowbirds, wintering in Arizona while Bruce returned to work briefly during summers, until he finally embraced full retirement, leaving the business in Greg’s capable hands. Under Greg’s leadership, the company flourished and experienced continued growth, just as Bruce had hoped. With the knowledge that our grandson, Zachery, will soon be leading the business, Bruce was very pleased before he passed away. He always thought it would be great for a third generation to carry our legacy forward, so he left this world with a happy heart,” she reflects. Valued workforce Looking back on Bellamy Remodeling’s most memorable renovations, Sharon recalls restoring an historic 1870s mansion that had been vacant for years. “The gentleman who bought the house had removed all the stunning woodwork and stored it in a barn on the property. Subsequently, he commissioned us to restore the house, using the original materials that were in the barn. As this was a sizable mansion, one of our master carpenters took on that job, along with a couple of other team members. Nothing was marked, so he needed to completely figure out where the parts went and how to assemble them. After completing this meticulous restoration, including installing a modern kitchen, the homeowner called us back to craft a play yard with treehouses for his six children. Greg led this part of the project and created two treehouses connected by a rope passageway. This was quite a feat and an expensive project at the time, making it particularly special to me,” she elaborates. With Greg currently at the helm, Bellamy Remodeling continues to thrive, a testament to its longevity and successful business model. “Part of our ongoing success comes from keeping up with the latest remodeling products and techniques while refining our processes,” says Greg. “But above all, I believe that our employees are the foundation of our longevity. My father always used to say that without them, we would have nothing. Today, we uphold that philosophy and prioritize our workforce, resulting in a high retention rate. For instance, one of our team members, Steve MacKenzie, is retiring this year after spending 40 years with us. Keeping our skilled workforce happy is not just good practice; it has been central to our continued success,” he adds. Incredible team The family’s employee-first approach now passes to Zachery, Greg’s son, who vows to uphold this legacy when he assumes leadership of Bellamy Remodeling. “Growing up, I spent summers working with my grandfather on job sites. Both he and my dad always emphasized how vital our team is, and I truly feel this is a good point to stand on. I want to surround myself with great people and continue fostering the camaraderie we already enjoy with our incredible team,” Zachery discloses. Future vision As he prepares to step into his new role, Zachery shares his hopes and aspirations for the future of Bellamy Remodeling under his leadership. “When I transition from hands-on work to taking on office responsibilities, my first priority is to ease into the intricacies of the office work. But most importantly, my goal is to grow the company to new heights. This ambition was sparked after visiting a company that is part of the Remodelers Advantage Group, with which my parents had previously connected. Based in Ohio, that company experienced tremendous growth over five-to-eight years, increasing its annual revenue from approximately $3 million annually to around $12 million. While shadowing the son of the founder, I asked him how they managed to increase their growth, production, and earnings. His answer stuck with me: for his father, it was never about the money. It was always about being in contact with clients and spreading their morals and knowledge. He explained that this approach naturally led to increased production, profits, and growth. I genuinely took that to heart, and it has shaped the vision I have for Bellamy Remodeling. I want to share our values with our clients and provide our expertise to as many people as possible. By doing so, I believe that growth and success will follow organically,” Zachery ends. Three generations strong, Bellamy Remodeling refreshes houses to turn them into homes through unwavering family values and exceptional craftsmanship. www.bellamyremodeling.com 1 May 202530 April 2025 Iain 139, Bellamy Remodeling, Greg Bellamy, Luxury, Scotia NY, Sharon Bellamy 6 min read DesignInsights
