From secret speakeasies to five-star craftsmanship, Aliversa blends reputation with variety to deliver luxury in Colorado
Hidden in a lavish pool house in Northern Colorado, a secret staircase descends into a saloon-style speakeasy. The floor opens from the push of a button to reveal an entire bar, along with pool table and wet bar, tucked beneath the 2100-square-foot pool house that anchors an 8500-square-foot mountain-modern residence.

It’s this creative, almost cinematic detail that Nico Campana, owner of Aliversa Builders (Aliversa), incorporates into every project: discovering what makes a client’s vision unique, then building it without compromise. The third-generation custom home builder specializes in luxury properties, but Nico explains these can be incredibly wide-ranging – from modern lakeside retreats to multi-story townhouses. What remains the same is Aliversa’s commitment to high-quality construction.
“Reputation means everything to Aliversa,” declares Nico. “I started the company about 12 years ago, but I come from a family of builders – my grandfather emigrated from Italy and started it all off. I went to Colorado State University where I studied construction management, before forming Aliversa, with the goal of delivering exceptional craftsmanship and making the building process enjoyable for our clients.” Combining his college education with childhood experiences on construction sites, Nico says he’s applied everything he’s learned and brought it to life.
Design trends
Alongside luxury homes, Aliversa takes on large-scale remodels, commercial projects, and some real estate development. Nico reveals some insight on the current trends he’s seeing industry-wide. “The cost of construction per square foot has gone up significantly, so we’re getting creative with utilizing the space in a home and making the most of those small, overlooked areas – a nook that becomes a bookcase, or a playroom under the stairs.” With the rise of interest in personal wellness, the group has also been building numerous saunas, steam showers, and fitness rooms. However, the biggest trend is indoor-outdoor living, Nico elaborates. “People want outdoor space that feels like an extension of the indoors,” he says. “We’re often bringing stone in from the outside and using huge windows and doors that open the whole space up.”

With the exceptional saloon-themed build set for completion in December [at the time of writing], Aliversa is presently finishing another project called The Row Townhomes at 2534. “We’ve just built 32 three-story townhomes in Johnstown, Colorado, ranging from 1800-to-2000 square feet, some of which include three-car garages,” highlights Nico. “It’s a project we’re extremely proud of. Beyond that, we have a handful of custom homes currently in design, and we’re always looking for new clients!”
Reputation and quality
For Aliversa, building a home for somebody is a relationship, not just a transaction. “The first step is sitting down with the client to understand their ideas and make sure we’re a good fit – it’s a team effort and everybody needs to feel good about the project,” Nico explains. “Once that’s established, I assign an architect. I work with certain architects who specialize in modern homes and others who focus on traditional styles, so we match the architect to the client’s vision. Once the architectural drawings are complete, we set a target budget and design to it. Then we bring in the engineers to finalize the drawings, and we bid out the whole project. From there, clients make their selections. Once we have final pricing, final plans, and everything locked in, and the numbers work, we submit for permit and begin building. Every property is unique and presents its own challenges, but that’s one of our favorite parts of the job – finding the best use for a lot and helping bring the client’s dream to life.”
Reflecting on Aliversa’s journey so far, Nico maintains that reputation and a strong team are integral to the company’s success. “Northern Colorado is growing fast, but we come from three generations of construction with a highly reputable name.” Delivering quality and treating clients with respect and fairness is crucial. “Building a team you can trust on every project – people who pay close attention to quality and can keep up with your schedule – is huge for us,” he adds. This ethos is something Aliversa will be carrying forward as it completes even more projects in 2026 and looks ahead to the next five years. “Our townhome project will be finished imminently, and it’s almost fully leased already,” Nico discloses. “Beyond that, our aim is to have three more custom homes under construction, plus three major remodels completed this year.
“Long term, we just want to keep doing what we’re doing. I like to build around five custom homes a year, alongside some remodels. We’re not going to be the biggest builder, and we won’t be the smallest – but what we truly care about is our reputation and quality.” Being voted Northern Colorado’s Best Custom Home Builder last year by NoCo Style Magazine illustrates just how respected the firm is, supported even further by a winning residence in the 2024 Parade of Homes. “Our vision is to have a waiting list of customers approach us and ask to build their dream homes,” ends Nico. “We want to keep striving toward those achievements and keep challenging ourselves with unique, fun projects.”
