Discover the world of modern dream-building with Scordio Construction, Inc

Family-owned luxury homebuilder, Scordio Construction, Inc. (Scordio), is renowned for building dreams as well as homes. Famous for having worked with New York’s top designers and architects, the company operates on the foundations of unequivocal passion, dedication, quality and integrity – all attributes that have contributed to its remarkable reputation.

Tribeca LoftModern Home Builders recently sat down with Anthony Scordio, Principal at Scordio Construction, to learn more about what makes his company so unique. “Scordio Construction was founded in 1981 and incorporated in 1986 by me,” Anthony begins. “I worked in multiple family-run businesses for my uncles at a young age as a mason and a carpenter. Later, I went to school to study Architecture, and after graduation, I decided to open a general contracting firm. After performing many odd jobs in residential areas in Brooklyn, I quickly made a name for myself as a quality home builder with integrity and started building single-family residences throughout the five boroughs.

“Along with my brother Steven, my son Marco, my nephews, and our long-standing company employees, I strive to maintain the quality and integrity in home building that began over 40 years ago.”

Specializing in residential homebuilding and the renovation of luxury single-family homes, townhouses, lofts, and apartments, Scordio boasts an extensive portfolio of characteristic homes covering all styles and needs.

Robust relationships

“Whether your style is traditional, country, classical, contemporary, modern, or uniquely eclectic, we are dedicated to fulfilling your vision,” Anthony continues. “Our comprehensive range of services includes preconstruction services, consulting, service and maintenance, historical restorations, new construction, custom renovations, and project management. At Scordio Construction we are committed to delivering exceptional quality and ensuring our clients’ needs are met every step of the way.”

The company revolves around five core business values: Innovation, Partnership, Work Ethic, Integrity, and Quality. These principles govern day-to-day life at Scordio Construction, encouraging its team to be the best they can be.

“We run our company as a family business with a corporate structure, emphasizing that our employees are key to our success. We treat our team like family, creating a supportive and collaborative environment,” Anthony explains.

“To motivate and empower our workforce, we prioritize open communication and ensure everyone feels heard and valued. We offer competitive benefits and celebrate team achievements, reinforcing our commitment to a positive workplace culture. By blending the personal touch of a family-run business with the resources of a larger corporation, we create an environment where everyone can thrive.”

Homing in on Quality and Partnership, Anthony elaborates on the company’s approach to creating robust relationships with its vendors, subcontractors and clients alike. “As the owner of Scordio, I strive to provide the most responsible and progressive services in the high-end residential sector,” Anthony shares. “Our commitment to responsible practices includes using high-quality materials and craftsmanship that ensure both beauty and longevity in every project.

“We have grown our business over the years primarily through word of mouth and recommendations from our past clients, architects, and designers,” Anthony continues. “Over the years, we’ve developed strong partnerships with architects, designers, suppliers, and subcontractors that have been crucial to our growth. These collaborations have allowed us to enhance our service offerings and streamline project delivery.

“I believe that being a responsible contractor involves fostering lasting relationships and delivering excellence at every stage. By staying informed about industry innovations and adapting to our clients’ needs, we ensure that our services are top-notch and aligned with modern best practices.”

Equally as valuable to Anthony are the close relationships he holds with his dedicated staff. “My company wouldn’t be thriving without my incredible team. My brother and partner, Steven, who has been with me since 1986, runs the onsite staff with exceptional skill and expertise in construction. My son Marco, as our Lead Project Manager, coordinates large projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget. Xavier, our Chief Accounting Officer, manages all financial aspects, keeping us on track, while DeAnna, our Director of Operations, oversees operations, ensuring our team has the support they need to excel.

“Most of our onsite staff have been with us for many years. These enduring relationships and a fantastic team are a testament to our commitment to quality and integrity in every project.”

Armed with a robust team and a wealth of talent and expertise, Scordio is gratified to have worked on many exciting projects over the years with a wide variety of different clients. “I take pride in all of our projects, as each one reflects our commitment to quality and the strong relationships we’ve built with reputable designers and architects throughout the years,” Anthony details. “One project that stands out is a stunning 7500-square-foot triplex loft in Tribeca, which beautifully blends modern design with functional living spaces. Currently, we are working on combining two townhouses in the West Village, totalling over 10,000 square feet.”

Scordio’s next project involves the construction of a residential 12-storey building on the 4th Avenue corridor in Park Slope on a site owned by the company. “This project represents a significant investment in the community and aligns with our vision of creating high-quality living spaces in one of New York City’s most vibrant neighborhoods,” Anthony says. “We are eager to see this vision come to fruition and contribute to the growth and revitalization of Park Slope when the time is right.”

As Scordio rapidly approaches its 40th anniversary – a major milestone for the business – Anthony reflects on the company’s journey, as well as the factors that have contributed to its longevity and ongoing achievements.

Driving success

“I credit our success to the dedication of my employees,” Anthony reveals. “Their hard work and commitment to quality have been essential, along with our focus on building strong relationships with clients and partners. Additionally, our ability to adapt to industry trends while upholding our values of integrity and quality has contributed significantly to our success.

“This milestone means a great deal to us – it’s a testament to our commitment to quality and the relationships we’ve built. We plan to celebrate this achievement by expanding in the next few years, which includes developing a new facility that will provide a welcoming and efficient space for our staff to work in.”

Aside from the development of the new facility, Anthony plans to expand the business in all areas, growing Scordio’s portfolio and scope of clientele through enhanced marketing and advertising efforts. Most importantly however, Anthony is thankful to be moving into the future with a great crew by his side.

“As I reflect on our journey and look ahead to the future, I feel compelled to recognize the invaluable contributions of our onsite supervisors: Victor, Jan C., Jan M., Carlos, and Santiago,” Anthony notes. “Each of these hardworking men was part of my crew when the company started. Their unwavering commitment to quality has been instrumental in bringing our projects to life. I also look forward to the contributions of our more recent additions, Jesse and Bart, and future supervisors who will continue to uphold our standards and drive our success.”

Alongside its loyal team, it’s clear to see that Scordio Construction is a business set up for the future, building homes and making memories for more clients year on year. Anthony puts it best: “Together, we’re building not just homes, but lasting legacies.”
