Founded in 1993 by President Steven Watt, the Gulfshore Homes team has provided award-winning and innovative custom designs for hundreds of homes. When Executive Vice President, Matthew Shull, joined the team more than ten years ago, he enhanced the company’s capability to continue raising the bar in luxury custom homes. Steve and Matt create the perfect balance and dynamic with their combined business acumen and building knowledge. Decades of collaborative relationships with trade partners, architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and engineering firms have ensured a meticulous approach to planning, design, and materials to produce a custom home that suits the homeowner’s lifestyle and personal tastes.

“We’re a hands-on, customer focused business,” begins Matt. “We walk our clients through every step of the process, which is the part of the job I enjoy most, and which has been fundamental to our success as an organization.” Having recently completed a stunning home in Miromar Lakes, a Southwest Florida community offering boating, beaches and golf, Matt shares details of the prestigious project. “Miromar Lakes boasts a vibrant lifestyle, enhanced by a dynamic social scene, a full calendar of year-round events and award-winning amenities. This is an ultra-modern lakefront home that took 25 months to complete. We’re also currently working on a three-story, 8000-square-foot property there which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025.”
Gulfshore Homes has experienced considerable growth in recent years, largely thanks to its exceptional product. “For a long time,” Matt explains, “we were a traditional design and build firm, but with a lot of ideas for more modern homes. As people became more interested in modern designs, we introduced concepts gently over time in line with demand, to the point where we’re now comfortably delivering ultramodern designs. At Gulfshore Homes, we specialize in designing and building custom homes that cater to clients’ unique requirements. Our team expertly integrates the latest architectural styles, smart-home technologies, and meticulous craftsmanship to create homes that stand out for their quality and elegance. To meet clients’ needs, we’ve traditionally worked with external designers. I’ve never had a right-hand person to call on for immediate help with design queries and decisions, so, we decided to introduce in-house designers to incorporate interior design into the initial phases of project planning. This has been immensely successful. We now have a team of five designers helping us deliver a comprehensive customer service experience.”

So much so, we have renovation work in the pipeline taking us up to 2026. We now have in-house architectural design, which enables clients to quickly visualize any design amendments. With modernist design, people particularly appreciate seeing visual representations in real time while making design decisions,” he elaborates.
Looking to the future, Matt shares his hopes for continued growth. “I’m looking to expand into the East Coast of Florida through Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale; to create a footprint on the East Coast like our existing presence in the west. Of course, to facilitate greater expansion, we need to have the right people alongside us. We have a couple of younger people working for us, and we’re hoping to bring them up through the ranks as part of our succession planning.
