Collaborative custom builder Grove Homes transforms architectural vision into award-winning luxury residences
Grove Homes was founded in 2019, but the story really began much earlier,” begins Jaeson Roundy, President. “Greg [Greg Winder, company’s Vice President] and I met in college and worked together for a period before each pursuing our own paths. I built a career in the trades, running my own rough carpentry business, while always aiming to become a general contractor.
“In 2017, I began transitioning from subcontracting into general contracting, and two years later I launched Grove Homes. As the company started to gain momentum, I reached out to Greg and invited him to join the business. About a year later, he came on board to help establish and oversee the operational side of the company, and we’ve continued to grow from there.
“We like to say we’re professionals at executing great design. Our role is to take the vision created by talented architects and designers and bring it to life with precision and craftsmanship. We focus on faithfully executing the design intent, allowing the creativity and expertise of our design partners to shine through in every project.”
Alongside Greg, Jaeson founded Grove Homes on the principles of integrity, dedication, and meticulous attention to detail. Over the years, they have built a reputation for excellence by consistently delivering homes that exceed expectations. The team of skilled professionals combines years of experience with a genuine love for the art of homebuilding.
“My background gave me the opportunity to work on many custom homes, and over time I noticed a recurring pattern in the industry,” Jaeson continues. “Contractors often imposed their own design preferences on a project, sometimes acting as designers themselves or pushing back against architects and design teams when ideas seemed difficult to execute or differed from their usual methods.
“That realization became a defining philosophy for Grove Homes. Our goal is to understand not only the drawings themselves, but also the history, context, and architectural intent behind them. There are many outstanding builders in Utah, but we believed there was room for a company dedicated to this highly collaborative approach.”

Grove Homes works across a wide variety of architectural styles. Today, many people know Grove Homes for its traditional-style custom homes, which often feature classic American architecture with European and British influences.
Jaeson’s ongoing pursuit of knowledge has strengthened Grove Homes’ ability to collaborate with leading architects and designers. As such, the company values its partnerships with talented design professionals, including firms such as Teague Design Group, Clayton Vance Architecture, Brandon Ingram Design, and many others.
“Likewise,” he adds. “We’ve also been fortunate to develop strong relationships with outstanding trade partners and suppliers. The quality of our homes is really a reflection of the people we work with every day. Whether it’s the skilled craftsmen in the field or trusted suppliers like Artisan Du Bois, Burton Lumber, Precision Woodworking, CC Parke Concrete, RAM Electric Inc. and Prominence Stone, we’re surrounded by partners who share our commitment to exceptional quality and attention to detail.
“Finding the right scale for a custom home building company is a constant balancing act,” Jaeson shares. “There are times when I daydream about building just one home at a time and being completely immersed in a single project. But the reality is that operating at that scale comes with challenges. It would be more difficult to attract and retain the best subcontractors, build strong supplier relationships, and create a sustainable business. Personally, it would also mean that every responsibility would fall on my shoulders, making it difficult to step away or take time off.
“At the same time, I never wanted Grove Homes to grow to the point where we lost the personal connection with our clients or the level of attention that custom projects deserve. Over the years, we’ve found a sweet spot of building around ten-to-12 homes annually. That allows us to maintain a talented team that can support one another, provide an exceptional experience for our clients, and create a healthy, sustainable culture within the company.”
Architect’s vision
Grove Homes operates in the Park City and Utah Valley areas. While separated by less than an hour’s drive, they are remarkably different markets, and that influences how the team approaches each project.
“In Park City,” Jaeson elaborates, we often build second homes or vacation properties. In Utah Valley, we more commonly build primary residences. That creates a different dynamic and a different set of priorities for homeowners. What doesn’t change is our commitment to quality. Regardless of location, the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is the same on every project.
“While we work hard to preserve the architect’s vision, we’re responsible for ensuring the home performs at the highest level; how it’s sealed, how it breathes, and how it functions over the long term,” Jaeson explains.
“I’m constantly researching new products and systems, whether that’s advanced weather barriers, roofing technologies, window systems, or energy-efficient building methods. I enjoy diving deep into the details, talking with suppliers, and evaluating innovations that can improve the durability, comfort, and performance of the homes we build.
“One of the most exciting aspects of custom home building is combining modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. Many of our clients are drawn to timeless architecture, antique materials, handcrafted millwork, and old-world character, but they also expect the comfort, efficiency, and performance of a brand-new home. For me, that’s the ideal balance: a home with the charm and authenticity of the past, built with the technology and performance standards of today.”

“Winning Judge’s Choice for our division at the 2025 Utah Valley Parade of Homes with the Palmetto Grove project was a significant milestone for us,” Jaeson adds. “It was a true passion project that allowed us to showcase a different approach to luxury homebuilding and demonstrate the level of quality and craftsmanship we’re capable of delivering. The recognition gave us valuable exposure and served as a turning point for Grove Homes, reinforcing our confidence as a team and opening the door to new opportunities moving forward.”
Continuous improvement
The company has several exciting projects underway, but one that stands out is a traditional farmhouse in Alpine designed by Brandon Ingram, Barbara Westbrook, and Hollander Design. “With reclaimed materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and a world-class design team, it’s the kind of project that makes me excited to come to work every day,” Jaeson enthuses. “It’s a home with incredible character, built to perform at the highest level, and we can’t wait to share it when it’s complete.
“In the next three-to-five years, our goal is to be recognized among Utah’s premier custom home builders. We’re not focused on becoming significantly larger; we’re focused on becoming better. That means refining our processes, improving our systems, and continuing to raise the standard of craftsmanship on every project. Of course, none of that would be possible without our incredible team, whose talent, dedication, and passion drive everything we do.
“My path into homebuilding wasn’t a traditional one, but I discovered a passion for building that combined everything I love: problem-solving, technical precision, creativity, and design. Encouraged by my wife to pursue what I truly enjoyed, I made the leap into construction, and it’s proven to be the perfect fit,” he concludes. “Today, I still draw on my engineering mindset, applying the same attention to detail and technical rigor to every home we build.”
