Built on a family legacy of decades of expertise, Lifestyle Design Homes is a homebuilder with a difference

Centered around the belief that ‘building a home is more than a transaction – it’s a deeply personal journey’, Lifestyle Design Homes (LDH) is a family-owned builder setting the standard for exceptional homebuilding in Southwest Florida. Founded just four years ago by husband-and-wife team Derrick and Kimberly Henderson, and daughter Jadyn Henderson, the company combines quality craftsmanship, innovative design, and personalized service to create homes that reflect the people who live in them. The business is proudly built on integrity, trust, and a shared passion for turning visions into reality, and its clients can be certain that they are investing in a legacy of excellence, care, and homes that truly stand the test of time.

Modern Home Builders sits down with Derrick Henderson, President of LDH, to find out more about the company’s journey thus far and uncover the secrets behind its rapid success. He begins our conversation by sharing insight into the business’ establishment and earlier days.

“We started the company off the back of 20-plus years of experience in commercial construction,” Derrick says. “We migrated to Florida in 2021 when our daughter moved to go to Florida Atlantic University; that same year, we decided to build a home with a builder in Southwest Florida, but it didn’t go well. From that point, we decided that if an individual company could make a good living by not doing right by people, then we could do it better with integrity – and, in 2022, Lifestyle Design Homes was born. Today, we’ve grown into a lifestyle design and development group, doing residential and commercial construction from South Florida all the way up to the southern parts of Georgia.

Personalized service

“Our main client base comprises people migrating to Florida. Because of that, we offer additional help and support with the moving process. We have a designated Moving Coordinator who helps with that process as well as scheduling, and there’s nothing quite like working with a first-time buyer in particular. We have an incentive for first time buyers where we’ll give them $10,000 credit to go towards building their home.”

Though LDH is only in its fourth year of operation, it has firmly positioned itself as an integral part of Florida’s homebuilding industry. Driven by its family-oriented culture and passion for exceptional craftmanship, the company has garnered a stellar reputation for building high-quality, sustainable homes with integrity and artistic flair. Delivered with deeply-personalized service, LDH’s process is designed to give clients confidence and support from start to finish. It all begins with a no-obligation consultation to discuss floor plans, features, budgeting, financing options, and even homesite selection, helping clients to be informed and prepared. Once the pre-construction agreement is submitted, clients can then take advantage of LDH’s award-winning, in-house design team, led by Kimberly Henderson, Vice President of Design and owner of Designs By Kimberly Renee. Boasting 14-plus years of interior design experience, Kimberly and the team transform visions and ideas into beautifully bespoke homes personalized to the unique tastes and lifestyles of each client.

“We specialize in quality building,” Derrick confirms. “My wife is an award-winning interior designer and her company, Designs By Kimberly Renee, is the secret sauce to our business in every way, designing homes to a very high level. For a lot of our homeowners, it’s their first time working with an interior designer, but it’s great because they have the luxury of having their own design team helping them to formulate ideas, and most people love the process. Right before we finalize everything, we also give our clients a photorealistic rendering of their home so they can really see and feel what’s going to be theirs.”

Committed to community

After finalizing the design, LDH coordinates all the estimates, contracts, financing, permitting, and scheduling, keeping its clients fully informed through regular updates via its online construction portal and site visits. During construction, the company only utilizes the highest-quality, premium materials to ensure that the final product is a durable home that lasts for generations – for instance, using impact-rated windows to stand against hurricane-prone environments. Many such materials and features are also employed to enhance the energy efficiency of the home, such as spray foam insulation and smart features that detect water leakages.

From the materials used to the collaborative process and people-centric ethos, LDH remains passionate about doing good – by its clients, own people, and the environment. On top of this, the company maintains an active position in its local communities, proving that this passion goes beyond its office walls.

“We’re very active in the community and are committed to giving back,” Derrick affirms. “For example, we run several scholarship programs for kids. If the kids are interested in working in construction, design, finance, or in entrepreneurship, they can take part in our paid intern program and start that here with LDH.”

As the company looks to the future, its mission remains firmly rooted in the values that inspired its founding: integrity, family, and an unwavering commitment to doing right by its clients. In just a few short years, LDH has proven that thoughtful leadership, exceptional design, and genuine care can redefine the homebuilding experience, especially in a fast-growing and competitive market like Southwest Florida. With 2026 set to be another highly successful year for the company, it remains well-positioned to continue to grow and flourish for many more years to come.

“Our main priority for 2026 is getting our arms around all of our new divisions. Our commercial division, for example, is really taking off, so we want to be a little bit more diligent in searching for development projects and ideas. We’re currently working on a 200-acre project in Florida building thousands of homes on one site, so we’re looking forward to bringing that into fruition in early 2027,” Derrick reveals.

“Our goal is to strive to be the premium builder in Southwest Florida. For such a young company, we’ve achieved so much and we thank God for the position that we are in,” he adds, concluding our conversation. “Over the next five years, we want to continue to grow and evolve while making sure that our expectations are aligned with the process. There’s a home shortage in the US at the moment and our mission is to try and correct that, one home at a time.”
