Award-winning home builder, Berg Development, combines modern luxury with nature to curate idyllic neighborhoods

Primarily serving Waukesha County and the surrounding area, Berg Development was founded in Wisconsin just over ten years ago with a focus on residential development and home construction. Building on this foundation, the company expanded into custom home building, along with select remodeling projects, while continuing to create thoughtfully planned communities designed for long-term livability and a true sense of home.

One such development is Quietwood – described by CEO, Marv Berg, as a ‘hidden gem’ – which was awarded the 2025 and 2026 Parade of Homes site, and blends luxury living with natural serenity. The large community consists of 165 individual lots, ranging in size from one-third of an acre to much larger, designed to immerse inhabitants in tranquility and nature. “With Quietwood, we wanted to showcase the surrounding views and scenery of Menomonee Falls,” states Marv. “We created the development with curvilinear streets, rolling topography, ponds, and cedar fencing to create a calming and luxurious atmosphere. It’s a beautiful community where residents can feel connected to a welcoming neighborhood while still enjoying privacy through the way the site was designed. All the homes have private, wooded backyards, and we thoughtfully carved the development into the existing tree line so it’s a special site, full of charm but still close enough to urban amenities. It’s an incredibly unique community and we’re very proud of it.”

Strategic curation

Balancing natural elements with urban convenience is a key component when executing projects like Quietwood, which Marv explains is accomplished by intentional planning.

“These developments often take up to three years before we’re even putting foundations in the ground – a process rooted in engineering precision, environmental sensitivity and long-term vision, so from the very beginning we’re curating the build strategically with our engineering team and our designers, to make the homes feel secluded but with access to facilities. Everything is intricately planned and thought out early in the design, so that when a homeowner eventually moves in, you can be assured the property still feels intentional 20 years from now – it stands the test of time and that’s the main goal in all our communities.” Featured in the 2025 Parade of Homes, and situated within the Quietwood development, is the architecturally modern Aurora model, for which the company won the Best Overall Home Gold Award.

“This was a wonderful collaboration between design, construction and project management,” continues Marv. “We typically create these parade models on a shortened time frame, meaning we rely heavily on our vendors, subcontractor partners and employees to build an over-the-top product in a short period of time while still focusing on quality. The Aurora model is extremely architecturally modern with clean lines, but it still retains a warm, comforting ‘home’ feel. It includes numerous high-end amenities, from a golf simulator and movie room to a spa room, featuring vaulted ceilings and floating staircases. Aurora really is a testament to the team and it’s an outstanding project.”

With most projects taking around three years to get through the engineering and design phase, the company is always extremely intentional about which projects it chooses. “There is a lot of thoughtful design behind all our homes,” explains Marv. “We’re currently working on several projects with different developments which are a couple of years away from completion, and our goal is to focus on strategic developments that respect the community, embrace nature, and complement the surrounding area.”

Family environment

Having just reached its ten-year anniversary, Berg Development continues to thrive, attributing its success to the people behind the company. We’re really excited about this achievement, and it’s a testament to the entire team and our ongoing collaboration,” Marv highlights. “Reflecting on the past decade, we have really focused on working well with our subcontractors, vendors, trade partners and our amazing employees. We’ve been blessed with such a great team and great customers who have supported us through this growth and helped us reach this anniversary. It’s a family environment here and we’re constantly celebrating the smaller moments that make up the bigger milestones.”

Priorities for the year

Alongside the promotion of its close-knit workplace culture, the business is always striving to improve operational efficiencies and customer experience, both of which are priorities for 2026. “First of all, we have 11 homes in the 2026 Parade of Homes, which is tremendously exciting,” Marv shares. “Aside from that, I believe there is always room for improvement and although we do a great job at present, we’re continually refining our process to better meet our customers’ needs and reduce the stress that can sometimes accompany the building process. There’s a lot of moving parts to these projects, but we want to make it an enjoyable experience. From that standpoint, we will be focusing on strategic growth and selecting the opportunities that make sense for our business, leaning towards the design side of the business, being intentional and making the homes functional for our homeowners. It’s a careful balance between design and function. Our in-house designers collaborate with clients from the very beginning, and we have a dedicated customer liaison team and project managers to guide homeowners through each step of the process to deliver a home they truly love.

“Ultimately, this is a referral business,” he concludes. “Obviously we do set aside time and budget for marketing, but when it comes to custom homes, a huge amount of clientele comes from referrals and word-of-mouth. It’s also dependent on where developments are located and the areas people are looking for, and there is no greater compliment than a referral from a happy homeowner who loved their building experience. We want our customers to be 100 percent satisfied, while promoting a positive environment and making sure our employees, subcontractors and vendors enjoy working with us too, which we’ll continue to cultivate as we look toward the next chapter of growth. Berg was founded on the simple principle of ‘doing the right thing’, and this applies to everybody involved in the business.”
