As Scordio Construction celebrates its 40th anniversary, the company continues to invest for the future
Luxury construction firm, Scordio Construction (Scordio), has been building high-end residential projects with the utmost precision and professionalism for more than 35 years. Located in Brooklyn, New York, Scordio has established relationships with some of the city’s top designers and architects, fostering a strong reputation for excellence and longevity.
These partnerships, as well as Scordio’s relationships with its employees, formed the basis of our last con-versation with Principal Anthony Scordio in 2024. Now, as Scordio approaches its 40th anniversary, we catch up with Anthony for an update on the business. “Since we last spoke, we’ve been very intentional about evolving the business while staying true to the quality of work the company has become known for,” Anthony opens.

“A big part of this evolution has been investing in the future of the organization by bringing in and developing younger craftsmen, project managers, and leadership talent. Construction is a trade where experience matters, and we place a lot of value on creating an environment where seasoned professionals can pass that knowledge along to the next generation.
“We’ve expanded our pre-construction planning, working with clients earlier to establish realistic budgets and construction strategies before design is finalized. We now work with architects and designers earlier in the process to help evaluate feasibility, establish budgets, and align design ideas with construction strategy from the beginning. We’re finding that homeowners benefit tremendously from bringing a builder into the conversation earlier, as it leads to a much clearer and smoother path once construction begins. When planning happens early, budgets tend to be clearer, schedules become more predictable, and communication flows much more smoothly throughout the project.
“We’re also preparing to launch a dedicated maintenance and service division focused on aftercare for the homes we build,” Anthony adds. “Many of our clients invest in beautiful materials, detailed finishes, and advanced mechanical systems, so having a group that can help maintain those homes over time is a natural extension of what we do.”
Exploring technologies
Alongside these investments, Scordio is implementing new technologies to enhance its building processes from both employee and customer perspectives. “We’re modernizing how we manage projects by implementing a comprehensive construction management platform across the company,” Anthony explains. “This system will allow managers, site supervisors, and office staff to stay aligned while also giving clients access to a portal where they can review schedules, selections, updates, and documentation all in one place. Construction can feel overwhelming for homeowners, so providing that level of visibility helps make the entire process feel far more welcoming and understandable.
“We’re also exploring emerging technologies that can help improve efficiency and planning. Tools like AI will never replace the judgement and experience of skilled builders, but they can absolutely help us work smarter and keep complex renovations moving more smoothly. These investments allow us to plan work more thoroughly and collaborate more effectively with architects, designers, and homeowners. For us, growth isn’t simply about taking on more work, but about refining how we build to consistently raise the standard of the finished product.”
Turning to current projects, Anthony shares that the company is currently focusing on renovating original New York City townhouses. “We’ve been having a lot of fun with these projects, and they allow us to work
with talented architects and interior designers to honor the history of these iconic buildings while introducing fresh finishes, bold colors, and modern touches inside,” Anthony shares. “Many of these properties are well over a century old, so behind the scenes there’s often significant structural work involved to rein-force and upgrade the original building. It’s incredibly rewarding to help preserve these historic homes so they can continue standing strong for another hundred years while creating beautiful living spaces for to-day.”
Ability to adapt
As our conversation closes, talk turns to Scordio’s 40th anniversary, and we ask Anthony for his thoughts on the strategic pillars that have contributed to the company’s longevity. “Reputation and relationships have always been the foundation of our business,” he reflects. “Over the years we’ve had the privilege of working with incredibly talented architects, designers, and craftspeople, and we’re deeply appreciative of the role they’ve played in helping shape the work we do. Many of our projects come through referrals and long-standing relationships, which speaks to the trust that has been built over time. Our team has also been a major part of that success. We’re fortunate to have experienced craftsmen and project managers who take tremendous pride in their work.
“At the same time, reaching 40 years requires an ability to adapt. The construction industry continues to evolve with new technologies, design trends, and ways of communicating with clients. Staying relevant means continuing to learn, improve, and evolve while holding on to the principles that built the company in the first place.

“We’re planning to take some time this year to celebrate this achievement with the people who have helped shape the company,” he adds. “That includes our employees, many of whom have been with us for a long time, as well as the architects, collaborators, and clients who have supported the business along the way. Milestones like this are also a reminder to keep investing in the younger members of our organization to ensure the company remains strong for decades to come.”
Thoughtful growth
Looking ahead, Scordio is focused on thoughtful growth to continue strengthening the organization. “We’re expanding the use of technology to improve planning and communication while also investing heavily in developing the next generation of craftsmen and leaders within the company,” Anthony says. “Ultimately, everything we do is aimed at delivering an even better building experience for the people who trust us with their homes.
“As we celebrate 40 years, we’re proud of what the company has accomplished, but we’re just as focused on what comes next,” he concludes. “Our goal is to combine the knowledge we’ve built over decades with modern tools and a new generation of skilled craftsmen, so every homeowner feels confident from the first conversation through to the final walkthrough. At the end of the day, building homes is about trust, and that’s something we never take for granted.”
